WHAT IS IN A MEERKAT ENCOUNTER

This is Meerkat Magic! Guided by an experienced member of the Animal Care Team, you'll be given an overview of our mischievious Meerkat mob - and then have time in their enclosure, really close-up! With a bowl of Meerkat treats on your lap to tempt our little characters we'll take photos of them feeding from the palm of your hand! Images will be downloaded onto a disc and presented to you as a memento of your personal Meerkat encounter!

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE TAKING PART

This is an exclusive encounter for you - your group can be up to a maximum of four participants.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE

6 years or older. Wildlife Encounters are as popular with adults as they are with kids! Children aged 6-11 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult (one adult per 3 children) who will gain free admission into the Park. This adult will not participate in the Encounter but can observe and take photographs from the sidelines.

CAN OTHER FRIENDS OR FAMILY COME INTO THE PARK TOO

Additional family or close friends not participating in the Encounter but wanting to watch from the sidelines are welcome and will be able to enter the Park with you at a discounted rate.

CAN I TOUCH THE MEERATS

No, you are asked not to touch the animals. However you can get very close and, if you sit still inside the enclosure, the Meerkats are likely to approach you and climb onto your lap! It is quite possible that the Meerkats will feed from your hand.

DO MEERKATS BITE AND ARE THERE ANY DANGERS

Meerkats may bite if they are frightened or feel threatened. Please be as quiet and still inside the enclosure as possible. The animals you encounter are all used to human contact and do not normally display behaviour that is threatening to visitors. However, it must be recognised that no animal is absolutely predictable and therefore there is always a small amount of risk of being bitten. Our Team will continuously monitor the animals and the Encounter sessions are conducted in such a way as to reduce the likelihood of unpredictable behaviour.

Guests will be offered disposable gloves and are requested to wash their hands after close contact with animals and animal feed. When inside the enclosure, care must be taken and instructions given by the Animal Care Team must be adhered to.

TETANUS INJECTIONS

Please check with your GP or medical centre that you're up to date.
