WHAT IS A COMBO ENCOUNTER
Guided by an experienced member of the Animal Care Team you'll spend close-up time with both our Penguins and Meerkats! Your adventure starts with the Penguins where you'll go behind the scenes and be given an overview of our fascinating Humboldt Penguin colony - their habits and natural behaviours, where they originate, why they're threatened in the wild, etc. You'll see how we prepare their fish and then help with feeding! You'll have special time inside the enclosure - including seeing inside the caves where our Penguins nest. Some of the tamer Penguin personalities will be happy to waddle up to greet you - including Dippy who is famous on Facebook 'dippy seaview' but we advise that you do not touch them.
The second part of your adventure is Meerkat Madness! Guided by an experienced member of the Animal Care Team, you'll be given an overview of our marvellous Meerkat mob - and then have time in their enclosure, really close-up! With a bowl of Meerkat treats on your lap to tempt our little characters, we'll take photos of them feeding from the palm of your hand! Images will be downloaded onto a DVD and presented to you as a memento of your special, personal Combo Encounter!
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE TAKING PART
This is an exclusive encounter for you and your chosen close family or friends - we accept bookings of one to a maximum of four people per Encounter.
HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE
6 years or older. Wildlife Encounters are as popular with adults as they are with children! Children aged 6-11 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will gain free admission into the Park and can observe from the sidelines.
CAN OTHER FRIENDS OR FAMILY COME INTO THE PARK TOO
Additional family or close friends not participating in the Encounter but wanting to watch from the sidelines are welcome and will be able to enter the Park with you at a discounted rate.
CAN I TOUCH THE PENGUINS AND MEERATS
No, you are asked not to touch the animals. However you can get very close and, if you sit still inside the enclosure, the Meerkats are likely to approach you and climb onto your lap! It is quite possible that the Meerkats will feed from your hand.
DO PENGUINS OR MEERKATS BITE AND ARE THERE ANY DANGERS
The animals you encounter are all used to human contact and do not normally display behaviour that is threatening to visitors. However, it must be recognised that no animal is absolutely predictable and therefore there is always a small amount of risk of being bitten or scratched. Our Team will continuously monitor the animals and the Encounter sessions are conducted in such a way as to reduce the likelihood of unpredictable behaviour.
Guests will be offered disposable gloves and are requested to wash their hands after close contact with animals and animal feed. When inside the enclosure, care must be taken and instructions given by the Animal Care Team must be adhered to.
Please check with your GP or medical centre that you're up to date.
WHAT DOES IT COST
